Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your Operational Management expertise in a new cutting-edge field. Alstom West Coast Main Line(WCML) is dedicated to the successful and safe delivery of its contractual commitments and to the achievement of its business plan. The Senior Production Manager shall be pivotal in achieving this.
This is a great time to join Alstom and in particular our Wembley depot. Working on Alstom Class 390 Pendolino’s for Avanti, CAF MK5 Coaches for Caledonian Sleeper, Class 92 Locomotives for GBRF and with a new fleet of Hitachi Class 805/807 due to join the Avanti fleet in December 2023, which will be stabling at Wembley with Alstom providing support with daily service exams. It’s a depot that will challenge you, stretch you and will give you the opportunities that you are ready for.
Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, ensuring that production targets, quality standards and safety requirements are achieved through the execution of the production plan and through the efficient management of resources. Ensuring that trains are delivered on time in a safe, clean, and fully functional condition to our customers whilst also undertaking several responsibilities.
You’ll specifically take care of managing a team of Production Managers and Monitor and control Production on a shift-by-shift basis. Ensuring that accountability for production is clearly defined and delegated.
We’ll look to you for:
- Liaising with the Fleet team, Contractors, Customers, Engineering, Fleet planning, Sourcing, EHS and Training departments to ensure the safe and efficient running of each site.
- Delivering a successful and safe delivery of contractual commitments and to the achievement of the business plan.

- A Minimum of a HNC in an Engineering field or proven operational experience in an engineering service environment
- Experience in fleet and/or maintenance operations and planning workloads effectively
- Experience in managing large groups of staff 10+
If you have the following knowledge it would be advantageous but not essential
- Technical knowledge of relevant Traction and Rolling Stock
- Knowledge and understanding of Network Rail Rules and Regulations
- Understanding of West Coast Traincare business and its Customer requirements
- An understanding of SAP and ability to use MS Office packages
- Good understanding of Westcoast Traincare business and its customers
- Experience of maintenance management in the railway industry
- Understanding of Railway Depot and Railway Industry Operations
