Maritime Transport (Maritime) is the largest, privately owned, intermodal logistics operator in the UK. Established in its current form in 2001 under the leadership of Executive Chairman, John Williams, the Company has grown from small beginnings to a £500m turnover, asset-rich business with over 40 sites throughout the UK.
Today, the company employs 3,000 skilled, permanent personnel across its sites and operates a state-of-the-art fleet of 1,600 trucks and 34 daily rail services, which together form the backbone of our UK operations to provide customers with supply chain service, security and choice for first and final, full load miles.
Developing and delivering low carbon, transport solutions and pioneering the modal shift of UK container and domestic distribution from road to rail is core to our strategic vision.
As an owner occupier, we operate a portfolio of intermodal and conventional rail terminals (SRFI) in the UK. These terminals are multi-track, 'open access' and operate 24/7, (although trains are only received Mon - Sat). The terminals work closely with the Company’s site-based road transport operations who undertake collections from and deliveries to the terminals. Currently there are eight terminals.
