Job Description

COOMBES requires an experienced Works Manager to work closely with the Project Manager to successfully deliver Rail Arboriculture projects, that meet with, or better, our client's expectations.

As a confident communicator, you'll proactively liaise with clients and internal colleagues to ensure smooth operations, monitor progress and provide an excellent service at all times. By successfully managing work activities, materials and site labour resources, you'll ensure that agreed projects are delivered on time, to budget and in compliance with internal quality standards and Network Rail requirements.

‍As an effective leader, you'll empower Site Supervisors to confidently carry out their duties and excel in their role.  You'll maintain project schedules so that projects stick to agreed timelines, and will take effective corrective action to address any problems that are identified along the way.

‍About you:

You'll have proven experience of working on Rail Arboriculture and vegetation projects.  You will hold PTS, COSS and SMSTS (or equivalent) competencies.  With excellent interpersonal skills, you’ll enjoy building effective and productive working relationships with clients, sub-contractors and colleagues alike.  Being highly organised with logical problem-solving skills, you’ll be able to plan the logistics needed to deliver works within agreed timescales.  You'll have an excellent understanding of Rail health, safety and environment practices and of Network Rail requirements, and have previous experience of producing Safe Works Packs.

The role will require you to be a self-motivated team member who can work both independently and ‘muck-in’ as part of a team.  You will take pride in your work, complete tasks to a high standard, in line with COOMBES’s ethos and values.

‍We offer the right candidate a competitive package and opportunities for your professional development.
