System Engineer

Telent is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join the Transport side of their business – this is a permanent position where you will be based ideally a couple of days a week  from our office near Canning Town.

The system engineer will work in a small team that supports the project and maintenance teams, delivering work across London Underground and Network Rail systems.  This is a great opportunity to be involved in our wider systems.

 We would be delighted to hear from you if you have the following experience:

  • Windows Patch Management (WSUS)
  • Active Directory (AD) and Group Policies
  • Experience in designing, building, testing and maintaining Windows Server architectures
  • Firmware
  • Unix
  • Cyber Security knowledge.

Role Profile:

  • The role will be based within our Rail team working closely with other systems engineers.
  • Supporting clients and internally with Windows Patch Management and AD & Group Policies.
  • Supporting the maintenance and upgrade of IT infrastructure, including Windows systems, AD domains, Servers, and SQL databases across our internal remote systems and supporting and across our customer sites.
  • Working with the team and customers to support our remote toolsets and monitoring tools for internal and external systems.

Typical Deliverables:

  • Providing support with the team to support and enhance our remote system's capabilities and monitoring
  • Provide a technical interface to the client in regards to Patching as well as the wider systems
  • Manage escalations to other departments within Telent or external 3rd Line support
  • Complete or provide support on system changes and upgrades 
  • Perform reviews of proposed system changes and upgrades
  • Assist with the delivery and implementation of system improvement projects in line with the Change Management procedure.

Business Operations Skills – Qualifications: 

  • HND or above in an engineering/Computer discipline
  • Microsoft Server Certification 
  • Cisco CCNA .
