The Civils and Infrastructure Team at Ford and Stanley are proud to be working with one of the UK’s leading Consultancies, with over 1,400 professionally qualified staff in its rail business alone, they provide a broad range of consultancy services to the rail sector. From pure signalling design to the programme management of multidisciplinary projects, their Rail Consultancy arm delivers to all key rail markets including bespoke permanent way design/consultation.
The P-way team specialise in alignment, track formation, grading and drainage design across all rail models, with their biggest customer being Network Rail. The P-way team is diverse and made up of 8 capable junior engineers, senior engineers and graduate apprentices, who are in need of a technically gifted P-way engineer who has the desire to lead and mentor a team. The P-way team need a leader who can develop, motivate and advance talent within the organisation.
For an established P-way Engineer this is an opportunity to elevate your seniority and gain reward through the development & growth of your peers. This role will offer great exposure both internally and externally, you will be accountable for the delivery of high-level projects with industry leaders such as Network Rail and steer the P-way team to an overall productivity target of 80%. To achieve this, your role will be split between 70% delivery and 30% team development activities.
An ability to adapt to consultancy life will be essential for this role, as it comes with its unique ways of working.
Location, Salary & Benefits
Glasgow (Hybrid working), £65k per annum.
- Pension (up to 5% double matched) i.e., if you put 5%, they will put 10% (15% in total). You have the option to contribute more if you wish.

What they need from you
- Essential: Experience as a CRE, PE or DPE within P-way Design Engineering.
- Essential: Excellent communication skills, and a desire to work in a people management role.
