Salary:  “Base salary: £36,300 c. £45,350 pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15 % which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Senior Innovation Analyst at HS2 you will provide analytical support to the Innovation Department, act as an ambassador for innovation and the delivery of key projects across the HS2 team. The innovation team works with the business to identify challenges, ideas and solutions. We then work to prove our new concepts and implement them as business as usual. The Senior Innovation Analyst will support the Senior Innovation managers with their project portfolios, developing insights and assessment of the potential and delivery pathways for innovation in HS2.

About the role

  • Develop, manage, and evolve best practice process for innovation management across the programme, including bringing in external best practice across the project.
  • The development and management of an innovation portfolio, including overall responsibility for innovation within specific contracts or framework partners.
  • Engender a culture and climate to support innovation conducive to introducing new ideas and opportunities and ensuring feedback is constructive.
  • To become a key contact point for innovation both within HS2 and for external organisations, including direct contact with framework partners, supply chain organisations, and start-ups within our Accelerator programme.
  • Work with the innovation team to develop and share innovation projects via multiple internal and external channels including videos, innovation portal, social media (LinkedIn and others), internal news stories and presentations.
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

 

About You:

  • Innovation Development skills - identifying, developing and scaling up innovations for business improvements.
  • Influencing skills – including encouraging innovation and fostering change within large scale capital and, or technical programmes.
  • Communication skills – including influencing senior internal stakeholders and providing guidance and support to colleagues across disciplines to support innovation.
  • Educated to a degree level of have equivalent accreditation or experience
  • Knowledge of managing the innovation process and landscape in a complex environment or equivalent
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Agile, Prince 2 or equivalent
  • Experience of working within a complex supply chain
  • Experience of managing a large portfolio of projects across a broad range of technical and commercial areas
  • Has operated or consulted at different levels of an organisation, including with senior leadership, managers, and project leaders
  • Knowledge of innovation, entrepreneurialism, and idea development
  • Experience in managing a small portfolio of research and innovation projects
  • Experience in leading a complex project with multiple stakeholders and delivering a clear project outcome
  • Numeracy skills and capability to build commercial business cases
  • Communication skills
