Morson Talent is recruiting for a Rail Control Room Operator,
Our client operates in Direct Rail services that cover the length if Britain delivering rail transport and associated services that meet the stringent safety and security demands of the nuclear industry. Our client delivers safe, secure, and reliable nuclear Rail Freight.
To manage the extraction and insertion of traction and rolling stock (T&RS) on the rail network for planned and remedial maintenance ensuring minimum disruption to service delivery and acting as the handshake between Operations and Engineering.
Qualifications
- GCSEs Grade A-C or equivalent in Maths, English, and Sciences.
- NVQ and or qualification in relevant field.
Experience
- Experience of railway control and operations methodologies.
- Experience of Working with `Network Rail and Train Operating Companies.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the Rail industry.
- Knowledge of DRS T&RS and network.

- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

- IT skills: Microsoft Office, Maintenance Management. Systems, Q Pulse.

What are the key deliverables and accountabilities of the role?
Key accountabilities
- Coordinate transfer moves of the client and third-party T&RS to enable maintenance to be carried out in accordance with fleet maintenance plans.
- Review maintenance and exam plans with Operations Planning and Fleet Planners and coordinate transfer moves to ensure all and third-party fleet maintenance is carried out within the maintenance window.
- Liaise with Fleet Planners and Operations Planning to ensure co-ordination of Maintenance Plans and Business Delivery Plans to drive efficiencies in extracting and inserting T&RS.
- Manage robust communication channels between Operations Planning and Fleet Planners to ensure pre-notification of urgent maintenance requirements to Depot Managers.
- Monitor TOPS and reduce Transfer status of T&RS in conjunction with the Operations team by the liaising with the relevant departments to get assets moved.
- Monitor the hours of DRS locos on hire to other Train Operators under GENIUS control.
- Input to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure fleet availability and reliability, aligned to NTS’s Integrated Business Performance (IBP) KPIs, as instructed by the Fleet Manager.
