Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer for a permanent position working within the Rail Engineering industry based in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

You will be responsible for designing and maintaining quality standards, inspecting materials, equipment, processes and product, developing quality control systems and determining corrective actions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to. 
• Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents, and incidents in a timely manner to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence.
• Develop and maintain internal audit system and schedule, carry out audits.
• Ensure audit action plan and closure are completed in a timely manner.
• Action customer NCR’s using WIM NCR System. 
• Ensure QRQC methodology is used to contain, analyse root cause, and completing actions.
• Maintain quality management system procedures.
• Support with 3rd party audits where required.
• Support with supplier quality audits / meetings as required.
• Support Project core teams.
• Ensure effective use and maintenance of core Quality documentation.
• Maintain document control systems / local server QSE library.
• Liaise with internal suppliers to improve quality of delivered product Internal Audits (Systems, Process, Product).
• Implement robust containment activities by developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvement.
• Manage resolution of customer related incidents.

Background & Experience: 
• Quality experience within a quality or production environment.
• Engineering background.
• Problem solving background.

Qualifications/Education Required: 
• Engineering qualification (Desirable).
• Auditing qualification preferred.

Key Skills, Competencies and Personal Attributes: 
• Ability to read basic measuring equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• To be able to conduct themselves professionally with suppliers and customer representatives.
• Able to manage multiple supplier issues.
• IT literate and conversant with Microsoft Office.
