Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Production Engineer for one of the leaders in design, manufacture, maintenance and supply of equipment and components for railway systems.

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Production Engineer who will be responsible in the assistance of day to day activities and taking ownership of the planning and chasing of materials for modification and maintenance projects on rolling stock vehicles. They will play a major part in keeping the completion of maintenance on time by being ruthless in the securement of materials needed. Communication will be important, building relationships throughout various internal and external departments in order to make sure that everyone is working in harmony with one another.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Continuous improvement of the production process
  • Work cross functionally with different departments (purchasing, logistics, technical office, etc.).
  • Communicate and respond to Production requests.
  • Clear understanding of Lean Manufacturing and optimization of manufacturing costs.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have strong communications skills in order to work with various departments across three of their sites in the UK. They need to be strong minded in order to manage the organization of material gathering for the maintenance and modifications of rolling stock and use their own initiative to overcome and solve problems. The opportunity to implement your own procedures would also be considered if it will contribute towards continuous improvement of procedures.


  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for own work.
  • Be able to communicate across departments to stream line organizations of material sourcing.
  • Have a background in manufacturing at a Production or Planning level.


  • Rail industry experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering
  • Spanish speaking
