SCS Site engineer Job Description
Working as part of the Shafts West Team, reporting to the Package Manager, you shall be responsible for the front line preparation, delivery and close out of works packages.
The specific role duties include the following:-
•Actively input into SoS (5@3) coordination meeting every afternoon
•Attend and actively engage with the SoS brief in the morning
•Attend the Point of Work briefing for the works that they are supervising a minimum of 2 days per week.
•Where authorised, raise permits for sign-off and brief to Responsible Person
•Undertake weekly Targeted Risk Monitoring Inspections for your area of works
•Manage Safe Systems of Work, including but limited to:-
•Organise/Attend/Record HAZID prior to works on site.
•Developing SSOW for approval
•Maintaining records and registers
•Briefing supervisors, reviewing briefings on site.
•Checking compliance to SSOW, including relevance of SSOW to the works on site.
•Checking compliance to JV and statutory requirements.
•Monitor environmental controls in line prescribed procedures and statutory requirements including but not limited to noise, vibration, water, waste, and dust.
•Ensure compliance with U&A that you are briefed on.
•Undertake Environmental TRM’s, identifying, recording and resolving/escalating issues.
•Familiarise yourself with relevant DH specifications and related national standards and relevant industry guidance, ensuring that relevant controls are developed into Quality Assurance documentation and implemented on site.
•Assist with the development of TIDIPs prior to works
•Assist with the development of assurance packages to close out works
•Draft Self-Delivery ITP
•Review subcontractor ITP
•Undertake/Record inspections on site
•Book and witness inspections on site, engaging with specialists where required.
•Ensure that the records are collated as per the quality management system.
•Draft Self Delivery MCR
•Review subcontractor MCR
•Review materials on/off site to ensure compliance to MCR
•Ensure that materials are stored and installed in line with manufactures guidance.
•Identify defects in areas of work, recording these in NCR on relevant system
•Proactively identify lessons learnt
•Actively engage with the subcontract package manager and subcontractor to proactively identify requirements to facilitate works on site and ensure that these are in place. Escalate where pre work requirements cannot be closed
•Support the Package Managers in resolving issues identified at the Last Planner meetings relevant to your works.
•Attend Package Manager briefing of weekly programme objectives
•Maintain planned vs actual records and reasons for delay as part of the 5@3
•Support the foreman in developing the SOS for the next day, including Aphex geospatial planning.
Commercial and Procurement
•Monitor Subcontractors on site – recording progress and flagging any Health and Safety, Quality or Environmental concerns.
•Raise EWN for packages of works that they are responsible to the attention of the Package Manager and Package QS.
•Maintain contemporaneous records of works on site on the nominated system, ensuring that reports are published at the end of each and every shift. Support the Package Manager in collating data for reporting.
•Identify resource savings and optimisation, including plant and materials
•Review design with construction supervisors, subcontractors.
•Maintain a controlled set of drawings, ensuring that relevant information is provided to the site team in a timely manner.
•Identify defects, omissions in the design and support the Package Managers in raising these with Design House.
•Draft Temporary Works Design Briefs for Review
•Understand the specific requirements for Temporary Works for your areas of responsibility, ensuring that these requirements are integrated into the Safe System of Works
•Review compliance of the installation and use of temporary works to the prescribed methods
•Assist Package Manager in development of Temporary Works as necessary
•Support the subcontractor in ensuring compliance to the Logistics Management plan.
•Support the General Foreman in managing the site logistics by providing relevant information at the daily/weekly meeting.
