Job Description:
In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of mechanical engineering projects to clients or internal project teams. We are looking for you if you can:
- Understand client requirements and aspirations to identify and agree scopes of work.
- Deliver high quality work to agreed timescales and budgets.
- Ideally, have good knowledge of at least two of the following rolling stock areas, and the desire and ability to develop your knowledge within other areas:
- Bogies and suspension.
- Wheelsets.
- Bearings and transmissions.
- Braking systems and performance.
- Door systems.
- Couplers and gangways.
- Corrosion repairs and fabrication.
- Engines.
- Train maintenance and fleet management.
Example work activities:
The role does not require applicants with experience in these areas. They are provided as examples of what you could be doing with us:
- The introduction of new rolling stock through design scrutiny in support of the Certification Body.
- Cost reduction through component condition assessment and maintenance optimization.
- Investigation of in-service issues / problem solving.
- Devising practical repair solutions.
- Improving system reliability through the review of fault data and recommendation for modifications.
- Undertake Project Manager roles for projects managed by the Mechanical Systems team.
- Identify technical, commercial and safety risks associated with projects and ensure these are managed through each project phase.
