Graduate Engineer required for a world leading transportation business working as a project coordinator on the biggest rail digitalisation project in the UK.
The Opportunity
Initially starting off as a coordinator, this graduate will progress into a Project Engineering or Design Engineering function, working on the biggest rail digitalisation project in the UK. The candidate will grow their technical skills and become part of the UK rail community, learning the organisation of freight operators, and unlocking the potential for a lifelong career in this lucrative sector.
The Situation
The ETCS (European Train Control System) is a project where new systems will be equipped to all European rolling stock, resulting in more trains on the tracks at any one time due to improved location tracking. The freight operator prides itself for the largest locomotive and specialist wagon fleet, creating an exciting challenge for the Graduate Engineer, who will be heavily involved on this project.
Locations:
Toton (Nottingham) / Doncaster (hybrid working with 1-2 days working from home).
Role and Responsibilities:
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and third parties to arrange vehicle surveys and testing to support a major programme in digitalisation.
- Assisting in the design phase of the project implementation, and supporting engineering with training development, reviewing technical documentation.
- Liaising with the train driver community and union representatives.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be eager to learn and build relationships within a complex organisation. They will have demonstrable mechanical and electrical knowledge and an honest method of communication.
They could be someone who recently completed their degree, or someone with a few years’ experience in the rail/rolling stock sector.
Desirable
- Degree Qualified (Engineering Discipline).
- Experience in relevant industries: engineering, automotive, aerospace, heavy machine manufacturing.
- Experience with rolling stock.
- Electrically biased
