Electrical technician with heavy industrial experience required for a rail freight depot, focussing upon maintenance of a fleet of locomotives.
Have you ever had an interest in trains? Now is you chance to get up close and personal. We need 2 electrical technicians who can read electrical diagrams, fault find and maintain electrical systems on rail freight locomotives. Previous rail experience is not essential and training will be provided.

Location: Crewe
Rate: £25.65 per hour (Inside IR35)
Hours: 42 hours per week plus overtime
Duration: 12 months+
Shifts: Mixed shifts including days, afternoons, nights and weekends
Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 qualification a must
Situation
Our client is looking for reliable and capable electrical technicians who can carry out heavy electrical maintenance activities and identify and rectify any fault that may occur on fleet of locomotives.
The Candidate
- You will be comfortable with maintenance procedures of electrical components and understand electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic.
- You will be able to quickly interpret electrical instructions, follow strict guidelines and work to written specifications set by our client on how they wish for their rail vehicles to be maintained.
- You will have a sound understanding of various testing equipment such as multimeters, flukes and muggers and be able to read and understand schematic diagrams to carry out maintenance duties.
Essential Criteria
- You will need to have a minimum level of NVQ Level 3 to qualify for this role in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- You must be able to demonstrate experience of electrical maintenance and fault rectification in, ideally, a heavy industrial environment but light vehicle maintenance, for example, will also be considered.
- You must be able to pass drug & alcohol testing and medical screening prior to start.
