Job Description

LUL Relationship & Industry Contracts Manager
London / Hybrid
The post holder will be responsible for Arriva Rail London (ARL) Industry Contractual Agreements, in particular those relating to Station Access Agreements and Leases. The role will support and provide advice where required in matters relating to the industry regulatory framework, although will not take the lead in Track Access Contract amendments.
The role provides strategic leadership to improve the quality of interface management with London Underground (LUL) across the London Overground network, cascading joint objectives and inspiring behaviours throughout respective organisations to improve outcomes.
The role supports the maintenance of strong collaborative relationships with industry partners, especially Network Rail and Alstom, and is responsible for maintaining our collaboration to ISO440001 standards.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Ownership of ARL’s Station Access Agreements and Leases, where ARL is the Station Facility Operator (SFO), and where ARL is a beneficiary (in relation to LUL Usage Agreements, and where Network Rail or other Train Operators are the SFO)
  • Provide direction and advice where required in commercial matters relating to the industry regulatory framework
  • Lead with the execution of Funding Agreements where required, to support the objectives of our collaboration with Network Rail
  • Lead coordination of the Network Rail Account Review Meeting – overseeing the status of commercial and contractual matters with Network Rail
  • Support ARL’s input into the broader governance structure relating to the Network Rail interface, with particular involvement to provide contractual and relationship support to our stations facilities interfaces, and to the non-performance elements of the Network Rail scorecard
  • Project manage the process of maintaining ARL’s certification against the ISO44001 standard for Collaborative Business Relationship Management Systems
  • Act as ARL’s overall account manager with LUL, including ownership of all contractual issues 
  • Develop joint initiatives with LUL and other industry partners where improvements can be identified and implement procedures to track benefits realisation and provide evidence for continuing / terminating these initiatives.
  • Support ARL Customer Experience and Operations teams to maximise the effectiveness of day-to-day interfaces with LUL on a route by route basis, and work with LUL to improve customer experience for London Overground passengers
  • Liaise with senior figures within LUL and TfL to facilitate the achievement of joint aims and objectives
  • Share best practice in the management of the LUL and our industry relationships with other parts of Arriva UK Trains


Person Specification


  • Track record of building effective working relationships with peers, internal and external partners, customers and suppliers
  • Track record of delivery through partnerships and collaborative working
  • Knowledge of the contractual arrangements in place between ARL, LUL and other industry parties, and of the industry regulatory framework
  • Knowledge of LUL business, organisation structure and decision-making processes
  • Good understanding of the London Overground network, including interfaces with LUL
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills
  • Well-developed influencing skills
  • Ability to build mutual understanding across organisational boundaries
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial awareness, to support robust contract management
