Our specialist Civils & Infrastructure arm of Ford & Stanley is proud to be working in partnership with SLC Rail, a rapidly growing rail consultancy with a HQ in Birmingham and several new offices across the UK.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Manager, with previous rail experience, to work on a number of new station development projects in the West Midlands region, with some of these station values exceeding £80m. You will work with both the client and SLC, to ensure the smooth running of these projects.

Location (s): West Midlands, Birmingham 

Salary: £45-67,000 (Dependent on experience)

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project, Engineering, Commercial, and Planning Teams, to ensure the successful delivery of projects, to the agreed specifications and timescales.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all construction and safety aspects of the projects for the end client.
  • Attend project management reviews and construction team meetings.
  • Lead rail industry interfaces during construction activities (NWR,, TOC's etc).
  • Compile daily site diary and undertake regular site safety inspections and report all findings to the Project and Safety Teams. 
  • Act as NEC supervisor and 'custodian of quality' for the contract.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a demonstrable track record in the delivery of large-scale Rail infrastructure projects, within the UK rail market. 
  • Candidate must have been involved in multi-disciplinary projects. Various disciplinary backgrounds will be considered (Civils, M&E, Structures, etc).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are a must as you are effectively operating as ‘the face’ of SLC.
  • We are looking for someone with drive, and ambition, and who wants to be a key player within their business.
